Who is Bebe? Where did the name “Pink Fig Beauty” come from, and what about “Bebe”? Pink has always been my favorite color. I see figs as a symbol of the Mediterranean, where I’ve been living for several years now. And the word “beauty” seemed like a logical addition, to let people know what the content will be about. And “Bebe”? Actually, this name caught my eye thanks to a cookie package! Sweet and poetic, I’d say.
L’Occitane and Melvita
So, how did the idea to start building my virtual beauty space on the internet come about? The birth of my blogging can be indirectly attributed to two French beauty brands: L’Occitane and Melvita. I fell in love with both brands right away, and at that time (around 2010/11), my skincare routine consisted only of their products. Unfortunately, when I was shopping, I couldn’t find any decent reviews because they didn’t exist anywhere back then. So, I decided to start writing them myself. Partly to share my thoughts on the products I had at home, and partly to make shopping easier for other enthusiasts like me who had fallen under the spell of these brands.
I take photos of cosmetics before using them!
This brings a particular quirk. I still can’t start using a newly purchased product until I’ve photographed it in its untouched state – because what if I want to write about it on the blog later…? At the moment, the blog is still my biggest hobby, which consumes almost all of my free time. But I enjoy it so much that I can’t even imagine what I’d do if I stopped. Of course, that could happen, but I have no plans to do so anytime soon! [knock on wood]
Personal info behind the scenes
On a more personal note: I currently live with my partner on one of the Croatian islands near Zadar, and we have two cats – Tykošek (13) and Daisynka (1.5). My favorite pastime is training Croatian (such a beautiful language!) with friends over coffee, and then trying to improve it at home with a grammar book. And when I do read a magazine or listen to a podcast, it’s in Italian, which I would love to master so I can chat like a native speaker with a landlady on Murano in Venice. That’s my little dream in the corner of my soul.
I’m also a bit of a cleaning freak, and my idol is the book by Marie Kondo. It’s honestly saved me time and simplified my life. Really! I absolutely love reading any books about Parisian women and French women. They help me relax! And I’m pretty disappointed that no such book has been released recently. If you know of any, please email me the info!
I hope you enjoy your time here on my blog and find both entertainment and maybe some useful information. Either way, I’ll be happy if you leave a comment under the article – whether you found the review useful, learned something new, or if you think any information is missing. I’m looking forward to hearing from you!
Happy reading!
Bebe
