I first tried the French brand Caudalie thanks to a collaboration with Czech eshop Elnino, where I selected my first products. Until then, I had no idea about this cosmetic treasure from Bordeaux. And let me tell you, it’s something you absolutely need to try. Seriously, you need to.
To my dismay (or perhaps not so much?), I discovered that they stock the full range of this brand at Müller in Zadar. Which, of course, is a bit of a trap. What you don’t see, doesn’t hurt… but I can’t help but feel a little panicked every time I walk by. And that’s happening way too often for my liking. One of those tempting moments led me to add Caudalie’s SPF50 sunscreen spray to my shopping basket.

Sunscreen is a Must! No Doubt About It.
I easily justified this purchase. I can’t step outside without sunscreen. Sure, I’m probably the palest face along the Croatian coastline, but I couldn’t care less. I only have one skin, and I’m committed to taking good care of it. Protecting it from the sun is at the top of my priority list. For my face, I alternate between two sunscreens, Missha and Frudia. My body sunscreen was running low, and I wanted something “truly gold.” The Caudalie sunscreen came into my view just in time.

I opted for the SPF50 because I believe it’s either 30 or 50—anything else seems unnecessary. Side note: it always amazes me when people say that with such a sunscreen, they won’t even tan. That only SPF 6-10 is enough. But the SPF number isn’t a simple “yes” or “no” answer to whether you’ll tan. It’s a time indicator for how long you can be relatively safe in the sun, depending on your skin type.
Simplicity is Beautiful
The packaging of the sunscreen is not only aesthetically pleasing (obviously), but it’s also extremely functional. The bottle has a non-slip, matte finish—almost velvety, I’d say. It’s hard to explain, but the design ensures that the bottle won’t slip out of your hand, even if it’s a bit slippery with product. You can spray away without having to hunt for the bottle after every attempt.
And here’s a big plus: the spray doesn’t mist. It dispenses a “small pool” of sunscreen, rather than splattering it all over the place. That’s why I’ve learned to spray it into my palm first before applying it. But with Caudalie, that’s not even necessary. You can spray it directly onto your face without worry!

My Thoughts After Testing
The scent is quite strong but lovely. It immediately reminded me of Nuxe sunscreens. They share something in common, though Caudalie’s scent is lighter and less overpowering. It gives off a tropical vibe, almost like piña colada. However, if you plan to wear perfume, I’d hesitate before combining the two, as the cream’s scent is quite assertive.
Sun Protection
When it comes to spreadability and absorption, this sunscreen excels beyond expectations. Caudalie could teach a masterclass on how to make sunscreens that are easy to apply and absorb. It sinks in immediately with just a few strokes. There’s no greasy residue or heavy feeling afterward, and definitely no sticky sensation—none of that annoying stuff. It’s so pleasant that you could easily use it on your face without feeling like a greasy pancake.
Caudalie Sunscreen Spray – In Conclusion
As for sun protection, I’m happy to report that I haven’t experienced any sunburns (knock on wood). And I tested it while paddleboarding under a cloudless sky around midday, so that’s saying something.
I would highly recommend this sunscreen spray, even though it’s not the cheapest option. I paid about €30 for it.
